We love painting - Color Ideas - Decorating with Colors

tips and advice on decorating with color from existing wall and flooring:

many people do not realize with decorating their home is that certain colors really do incite certain feelings and emotions within us. This is why color choice is very important when decorating your home and the rooms within your personal space. We can start with the primary colors:
  • Red: stimulates, arouses, and heightens awareness.
  • Blue: relaxes, calms, transfixes.
  • Yellow: recharges, energizes, revitalizes.
Secondary colors create gradations of the feelings that are caused by the primary colors. For example:
  • Green: (Blue/Yellow) stabilizes, balances
  • Orange: (Red/Green) cheers, orders
  • Purple: (Blue/Red) protects, comforts

Colors and color schemes are personal concepts, but we are also subject to décor trends that change with the times. Thus if you have old flooring that's in excellent condition but in a color you dislike, you may want to consider working on a retro or vintage décor style which happens to be very popular right now. Incidentally, I've also submitted an article here on decorating tips for this décor style. Thus for an old flooring color scheme, it could actually be very cool to fashionistas! However, if you don't go for retro looks, work with a good interior designer to visually 'amend' the shade of color into something more acceptable. Color can take on different intensities when put next to other colors. For instance, pairing green with ash or bleached wood furniture will make the green seem cooler and lighter while a dark rosewood bench will make the green appear more vivid.
If the old flooring is in the living room, you can consider using large rugs to cover the floor and draw the eye towards the main seating area. You can place long carpet runner in the corridor. In the bedroom, the beds take up most of the space so the floor color does not matter so much.
Walls are easier to manage since there's nothing a fresh coat of paint won't cover but what if the walls are tiled in the same color as the existing flooring? This'll depend on the type of tiles. For homogeneous tiles, you may consider painting over them but this'll require using hobby craft paints which can be costly for large surfaces. The results may also be unsatisfactory for those who are new to such DIY projects.

Very useful Different Color and advise tips  :-

Black symbolizes money. This color is great with the wealth and career areas of your home and can also symbolize emotional protection.
Image result for decorating with colorsWhite has the ability to exude purity and simplicity. It can also help brighten dark rooms, although a room which is painted all white can s
ometimes give off an isolated sense. White also symbolizes cleanliness.
Purple has a calming effect. This color usually gives off feelings of being protected and comfortable. It also inspires faith and trust. Again with this color, too rich of a shade might be too overpowering and suffocating so you might want to choose a lighter shade if you want to paint your walls with this color.
Blue has a calming effect which makes it a popular color choice for feng shui decoration of meditation or prayer rooms. Blue is very cool, calming and relaxing. In the scientific world, blue is believed to help with lowering a person's blood pressure. Bedrooms which have blue as their main color theme can also be helpful in getting more sleep.
Green is full of energy. Since it is the color of nature, it can be very energetic but at the same time have a calming effect. If you want to bring in harmony to any room, this is the color that you should choose. If you are troubled and in need of a calming and refreshing touch, green is surely the way to go.
Yellow is considered as a happy color. It stimulates the brain so that a person can achieve clarity and good thinking. Yellow is also identified with logic and since it is very bright, it can bring energy to any room.
Orange, like yellow is also a joyful color. This color is great to use for feng shui decoration in your dining room because it can stimulate a persons appetite. This color also has the ability to signify being together so it is great for parties. This color also promotes good vibes and good communication.
Red is the primary color for passion. This is a color which has the ability to inspire movement and energy. This color is so powerful that it can be overwhelming to some people, so you might want to choose a lighter shade of red like pink. Just use red in rooms where there are lots of activities like your exercise room. Red also promotes sensuality so you should keep hints of it in your bedroom.

Paint applications that are designed to imitate other materials are called faux paint finish. Different methods are used to apply paints, glazes, and texturizing materials to create illusions of fabric, stone, wood, and other natural surfaces. Depending on how it is used, most often it is applied by hand tools with a variety of paintbrushes, sea sponges, putty knives, and cotton rags.

There are many ways to vary this technique, and it really is a good idea to practice first. Here is a guide of some effects that you can achieve:
Sponging is the easiest decorative finish to master. You can sponge with paint or tinted glaze on a color base.

There are numerous painting techniques you can use when doing up your home and faux painting is up towards the top of that list. The idea behind faux painting is that you use paint and the surface it's being applied to to create effects that can look like suede, wood grain or even concrete. These effects can be quite impressive if you've never seen them before.
The word faux is French and it simply means "false" - you're using skill and materials to create an effect on your walls that is entirely false but that is clever and creative enough to fool the human eye.

Because I had been faux painting for years I didn't listen to my own advice about trying the technique on a piece of scrap board first nor did I buy sample sizes of paint to try out. I bought gallons because I wanted to save time. Luckily the store agreed to exchange the paint for me free of charge but we did have to paint over a wall and wait for it to dry before starting over with new colors.

Faux Woodgraining

These faux painting techniques are ideal for dens and studies, and can be done for either the floor, the wall, or both. It uses the strie technique of dragging the paint and glaze mixes in the appropriate direction of the wood grain. These faux paint finishes are a bit more difficult than other faux painting techniques, but when done correctly, it can trick the eye into seeing real hardwood.
Faux Marbling
Faux marbling takes practice with faux painting techniques, and is more difficult to accomplish with quite a few more steps than other techniques. It's important to create depth to the finish, create veins through proper veining techniques, and make sure that the areas have not been over done, or the final results will not resemble the lustrous look of real marble. Furthermore, a dabbing technique can be applied to get the right marbling look. Many experts recommend using a visual aid, either a piece of real marble (just purchase one marble tile or marble tile lookalike), or use a picture of marble in order to imitate the specific look that marble has.
Faux Leather
Faux leather walls have increased greatly in popularity because of their sumptuous appearance - which is perfect for the bedroom. It is also one of the most simple faux painting techniques to achieve. A simple texture-making tool can be easily created from a chamois cut into strips. Glaze is used for edging, finishing, and finalizing the texture technique. The results are a leather look that is soft and inviting, without the expense of leather (nor the ecological consequences!).

Faux painting is an ancient style that can change your house dramatically and create a pleasant and soothing environment for you. It can add high level of texture to your room walls changing the whole theme of that room. Austin muralist Leigh Watson of Watson Design is one of the top masters of faux painting. 1. Interior house tips when painting: Since you're going to be your own house interior painter, the first thing you have to do is decide on how much paint you actually need for the project. The best way to go about this is to get the measurements of your home's walls; be sure to take the furniture out of the rooms as you do this. You may also use plastic to cover the floors and other pieces of furniture.

Because homebuilders are paying interest on an enormous amount of standing inventory, they are more than willing to lower prices, offer incentives such as a free pool, Mini Cooper car in the garage, pay all closing costs etc. For sellers of existing homes who aren't able to offer such lavish incentives, it has become extremely more difficult to be competitive in this demanding market. Therefore, it has never been more important for sellers of existing homes to go the 'extra mile', (or two or three), in preparing their homes to be presented in their best possible light.
It has been proven that minor repairs and cosmetic improvements not only help sell properties more quickly, but they can save you literally thousands at the negotiating table. If left to the buyers, statistics show they will factor in two to three times the actual costs of the anticipated repairs, a large price to pay by anyones standards. While you may not like the idea of putting more money into a property that you plan to sell, view it as a necessary investment which will add greater aesthetic value, and ultimately result in a home that is better prepared to compete in this market.
Buyers are savvy, and will automatically start discounting the asking price of a home in their minds with each cosmetic deficiency and minor repair that they see. That's why it is critical that you critique, identify, and eliminate these concerns before they even become an issue.
